Paddle Party 2012 ~ Setting the Record!
Paddle Party 2012 was an epic event! The Guinness Book of World Records for the largest paddleboard lesson was set at 500 people, total attendees were estimated around 700 people and Hailey’s House was introduced to all by its founders Kisha and Tom Maher. The event was hosted at the Newport Dunes and sponsors attended from all over southern California and beyond. FLOC coordinated over 50 volunteers who assisted with the registration table, beer garden, silent auction, stage and shoreline water entry. Shawn Wehan, FLOC’s Executive Director, kept the crowd informed as the MC while DJ Rock and Isle Entertainment provided the music vibe. As expected, the highlight of the day was the 20 minute paddleboard lesson led by Kisha Maher and the “paddle girls.” Guinness asked that the lesson last at least 20 minutes and despite the hot sand, Kisha held the crowd’s attention the entire time and set the record! Truly an amazing day.
