FLOC News! 1st Place FLOCers, Soul Surfer Success & A Brilliant Idea!

On Monday, April 4th of this past week, 8 FLOCers participated in the Kids Konnected Golf Tournament and believe it or not one of the FLOC “foursomes” took first place!  The team was led by Johnnie Walker and his friends Michael Carfioli, Ryan Allen and Scott Langford who managed to score an unbelievable 56 on the 18 holes at Dove Canyon Country Club (watch video).  Congratulations guys and a huge thank you to all 8 FLOC golfers for supporting the charity event.  A big WELL DONE also goes to FLOC member James Ruiz who sits on the Board of Kids Konnected and essentially organized the entire golf tournament.  James, you did a phenomenal job organizing the event, raised good money for Kids Konnected and made an impact in our community!  Thank you!! ~

Over 120 people attended the Boys Hope Girls Hope, Soul Surfer movie premier/wine tasting event this past Friday (video photos)!  The event took place at the Regatta Cafe Restaurant in Newport Beach followed by the surf movie at Lido Theatre.  Huge thank you to Robin Sinclair who shared the Boys Hope Girls Hope vision/mission, the Fritz Duda Company for providing the space and everyone else who came to supported the awareness event!   ~ The movie, like the evening’s featured nonprofit, also proved to be incredibly inspirational and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.   Bethany Hamilton attested to us all that disasters/disabilities are never an excuse to let go of our passions and dreams.  Thank you for your inspiration Bethany!

A new idea geared to impact Orange County’s hungry is coming next week (April 19) to the Alley Restaurant and Bar!  The Fair Share Project, created by the local young professional Jenn Long is a community effort to feed the hungry by sharing what we have (watch video).
By attending one of the Fair Share nights at participating restaurant sponsors, you will have the option to receive a smaller portion of your meal, and a percentage of the price you pay will be donated to feed the bellies in our community that normally go without.  In essence the Fair Share menu provides smaller, balanced dinner portions, reducing food waste in restaurants and 65% of your meal cost will go directly to feed those in our community. Your meal alone will provide 60 meals for those in need in our local county!  All proceeds go directly to the Second Harvest Food Bank of OC.  ~ Come to the event and check out more details here!
