FAQ

What is the difference between an Annual, Quarterly, Volunteer and Student Membership?
The Annual and the Quarterly memberships are essentially the same except with an Annual membership you pay in one lump sum and the Quarterly you pay over time.  At the end of the year however–when you do the math–you’ll pay more for the Quarterly.  A Volunteer membership simply gets you a name tag and a t-shirt for $35 and a Student membership allows free access to “Awareness Events” but doesn’t include anything else.
Do I have to be a FLOC Member to attend FLOC events, volunteer opportunities or trainings?
All FLOC events are open to the public and anyone can attend any event.  However, there is a fee at many of the events for “Guests.”  Like everything else in life, running FLOC costs money, and sadly there is “no such thing as a free lunch.”  Now scholarships are available from time-to-time for events, inquire at shawn.wehan@futureleadersoc.org
How long is my membership good for?
Every FLOC Membership is good for 365 days from the purchase date.
What is happening with the “New Directory?”
FLOC will be launching a “New Directory” for its members by the end of January.  That “New Directory” will have the capacity to hold and display all your volunteer hours performed, dollars donated to charities, events attended and information that you would like available to the public.  You will have the capacity to “login” to your “profile” and set the privacy settings.  The hope for the “New Directory” is that it will be a philanthropic resumefor you for a long time to come!
When will I receive my t-shirt?
A FLOC T-Shirts should arrive at your home address no later than two weeks after your FLOC Membership is purchased.  If you are still waiting on your t-shirt to arrive, please contact FLOC Membership Director Amanda Goglanian at amanda.goglanian@futureleadersoc.org
How does FLOC spend its Membership Fees and Sponsorship Dollars?
Like any organization, FLOC has a number of expenses associated with running its operation. From office expenses to marketing materials, business development to event operating costs, membership materials to assisting nonprofits, and yes a percentage goes to help pay the FLOC staff for their time and commitment to the organization which helps increase FLOC’s sustainability. As a US 501c3 nonprofit, FLOC is required by law to report every dollar spent to its Board and to the government. As a FLOC member and/or sponsor, you will receive a detailed annual report outlining every dollar that FLOC spends and how it has used it to serve the community. FLOC’s Board of Directors oversees the FLOC budget and represents all members and the community in its diligence to make sure that FLOC stays transparent and accountable. If you have any questions concerning the FLOC budget, please e-mail: info@futureleadersoc.org
Is my FLOC Membership good in San Diego and Los Angeles?
Yes!  A FLOC Membership is good anywhere a FLOC Chapter is operating.
Is it better that I pay online or with a check?
It is best to pay online as it helps with paperwork and it provides an easy way for you to fill out the Membership Application.
Are there any limitations to becoming a Member (i.e. age, financial status, creed, special approval, etc…)
FLOC is an “open” organization, meaning anyone can apply and be a member.  We want as many people engaged in the community as possible.  Jump on board!!
What are “Awareness” events?
Each month we introduce our members to a new non-profit that is in need of getting their word out and are looking for volunteers. The events are at least two hours long and feature one or two speakers who talk for ten minutes in the middle of the evening.  These events are held at swanky resturants and bars across Orange County and are ideal for social and professional networking.
What types of “Leadership Training” do you offer?
As one of our main focuses we are currently in the process of creating the leadership course training. It will feature presentations from Chief Level Executives, Mayors of Cities, and successful Entrepreneurs. We are also excited to be putting together a series on technology.
What is FLOC’s EIN Number?
Our EIN number is 27-3460415. This is also our TAX ID Number. You have more questions?  State them below and we will get back to you within a couple of days.  Thank you!
