Funding Research To Cure Childhood Cancers

Funding research that leads to curing childhood cancers is at the heart of everything we do at the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF).

Established in 1982, our founders – parents, doctors, friends, and community leaders – had a common vision … “To bring hope and lifesaving treatments to children battling cancer.”

Inspired by the ground-breaking research of Dr. Mitchell Cairo the Foundation quickly grew beyond its Orange County roots.  Since 1982, we’ve raised over $30 million for cutting edge pediatric cancer research.  This research has led to continuing improvements in the care, quality of life and survival rates of children with malignant diseases.  We invite you to read about some of these important discoveries. Despite significant advancements over the past 30 years, cancer still claims more children’s lives than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and AIDS combined. We’re diligent in our quest to give every child a cancer-free future, which is whyPCRF has awarded more than $30 million in research grants.

Dozens of researchers and staff have been supported by PCRF grants in locations across the United States. These locations include:

  • PCRF Laboratory at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center at New York Medical College
  • Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA
  • The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
  • Columbia University Medical Center
  • City of Hope
  • Children’s Hospital of Orange County
  • UC Irvine
  • Be the Match Foundation (formerly The National Marrow Donor Program)

Through the translational research funding at these medical facilities, PCRF ensures that laboratory findings are immediately made available to young patients whose lives are changed by receiving the very best cancer care possible. We are motivated by the courage of children and families facing cancer and invite you to join us as we continue to work to find cures.

The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. We are privately supported through generous donations from individuals, charitable foundations and businesses. Of every dollar raised, 80% goes directly to research that impacts countless young lives.
