FLOCers learned the challenging truth in March 2010 that 1-4 girls and 1-6 boys are sexually abused before the age of 16. Executive Director Elaina Kroll painted the disturbing picture for FLOCers and urged them to get involved in the fight to preserve every child’s innocence. FLOCers participated/attended the Innocence Mission’s gala which took place in December 2009.
“Looking at the numbers a quarter of our children in our nation are being hurt and their innocence is being stolen because people are abusing them in very, very violent ways. When a child is being abused whether it be molestation, raped, incest or taken to the street and sold through trafficking …we are killing a part of them and it’s a hidden epidemic.” Elaina Kroll President and CEO
Mission/Vision
We are all somebody’s child. Our children are our society’s greatest assets. Therefore, it is up to all of us to become aware of and educated about the dangers and risks of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) in our communities. We must also be proactive to protect our children right now. By encouraging victims – past and present – to speak out and report CSA, and by prosecuting men and women who hurt children, we can stop the cycle. Data estimates that more that 90% of child sexual abuse is never reported. That means that more than 90% of abusers are able to continue to hurt children.
As a survivor, founder and CEO of The Innocence Mission Elaina Kroll learned firsthand the heartache and grief of childhood sexual abuse. Now an advocate for victims, she is dedicated to the dream of creating a society where children are no longer at risk of the devastating crimes of sexual predators.
