Volunteering Taken to the Next Level!

This past winter FLOC put a challenge out to its members to take their volunteering to the next level by participating on a nonprofit committee and/or board.  Several members took on the challenge including Shereen Miniawi (for iHOPE), Abbie Erickson (for the American Cancer Society) and Natalie Alvarez (for CASA).  These FLOCers jumped in with both feet and said yes to taking on new responsibilities including: attending ongoing meetings, offering professional advice, seeking donations, finding new supporters, coordinating multiple projects and becoming charity liaison to FLOC.

The result…well, Shereen has been named iHOPE’s Volunteer Coordinator and is now in charge of finding weekly volunteers for the organization’s ongoing homeless shower service, Abbie helped coordinate a new ACS summer gala titled “Illumination of Hope” which netted $25,000 and Natalie held a key position on CASA’s “Betting By the Bay” committee that raised $75,000 for local at risk children.  Way to go FLOCers!    You gals are wonderful examples for all of us.  Thank you for your energy, service and participation in helping our nonprofit partners achieve success!  Keep up the amazing work.
